The Adventures Continue

Whew.. this week was crazy.. and the weekend was no different.. We are trying to take every chance we get to go and do the tourist thing.. We won't be doing any for 2 week since Ben is headed back to the states for some train the trainer training.. ugh.. anyway.. We packed as much as we could into the last few days.. Our plans got changed a few times either because of the weather or the demonstrations that were going on. But we made the most of it. We started the weekend by heading to another shopping district... Namdaemun.. Its a wide open market.. like an American flea market.. only 20 times bigger. It was an experience like none I have ever had. There were people EVERYWHERE!! People walking.. people on mopeds (which btw.. they use mopeds to transport things.. and whatever they are transporting is stacked up on the back of these mopeds.. sometimes twice as tall as the mopeds themselves) people in cars.. just people everywhere. We haggled which was fun. We ended up getting each of us a hand-crafted wooden stamp. I was in purse and shoe heaven. I have never seen so many hand bags and shoes in one place.. ever.. (of course i had to pick up one of those little cross the body coach bags) The kids were a little nervous there. They didn't understand people when they were speaking... they almost got run over quite a few times by those mopeds.. and for some reason.. everyone was infatuated with Kota's head.. People just kept touching or rubbing his head.. I thought it was cute but he was very annoyed.. lol.. But let me tell ya.. Clothes and handbags were not the only thing in the open. There was Korean food everywhere to. I definitely have to get used to the smells.. and I have to do that before I can attempt to eat any of it.. Live eel and squid just out in the open like that.. whoa.. that was a bit much for me.. Sunday we ventured to the Seoul Tower. If I wasn't convinced that Korea was going to be the place I lost weight before this trip.. I most definitely was after.. That hill just to get to the tower.. I had to stop twice walking up.. Its so steep.. and it seems to go on forever. (And while I am thinking about it.. someone please tell me why 90% of the women here wear heels?? all the time.. walking up and down this hill.. walking around shopping.. anywhere they walk.. they have heels on.. We all know I love my heels.. but really?? walking around in them like they do here.. no thank you!!) But once we got to the top.. we went inside the tower observatory. That was amazing. I can only compare it to the Empire State building observatory or the Space Needle observatory. Every where you go up there.. you can just see forever.. There were names of cities written on the glass in every direction along with the distance from the tower to that place... We also bought a memory block and put it on the wall inside the tower. That block.. which represents our family.. will always be a part of that place now.. which is kinda cool.. After w saw the tower.. we went and ate at this cool burger joint at the tower plaza.. Then we did my favorite part of the day.. The Teddy Bear Museum..

Now you know that Ben and the boys were not thrilled.. ok well the boys were not as bored as Ben was.. but they all suffered thru it for me.. I actually had fun. I took a zillion pictures and I wanted to bring each and every one of those bears home with me.. I probably could have stayed in there for hours and enjoyed every minute of it. Im pretty sure that is a trip I will be glad to take again (hint.. hint.. to any of my friends that come to visit).

We are definitely having fun while we are here. And it seems that we learn something new everyday. We are learning customs and bits of the language.. and eventually.. I am sure we will learn to love the food like Ben has.. Actually.. we have all eaten Yaki and its the one thing that we all like.. I am glad that we have come.. at least so far.. but... I miss you!!!
